Sam Bankman-Fried Pleads Not Guilty to Eight Charges

Sam Bankman-Fried, founder of cryptocurrency exchange FTX, has pleaded not guilty to eight charges.

As reported by Bloomberg, US District Judge Lewis Kaplan, who was appointed in late December, has set a trial date for October 2, 2023.

The prosecution has proposed an additional bail condition. The former FTX CEO cannot access or transfer assets of FTX and Alameda Research.

According to the publication, not having pleaded guilty will allow Bankman-Fried to obtain more information about the evidence against him and plan his next step.

Recall that Reuters had previously written that Bankman-Fried would plead guilty to charges of defrauding investors and stealing client funds. At the same time, WSJ sources ruled out such a possibility.
