According to a press release on Friday, the incident affected around 7,000 users who transferred data during the period August 2021 to February 2023. ConsenSys says a “third-party service provider” suffered a hacker attack, resulting in unauthorized access to personal data of MetaMask’s users.
The blockchain provider reassured MetaMask browser extension and mobile app security have not been impacted by the incident.
“MetaMask users are unaffected if they did not submit personal data to MetaMask customer support ticketing system,” the company said.
