Attackers Hack Into UK Military's Twitter and YouTube Accounts to Promote a Crypto Scam

A group of hackers has accessed the UK military’s Twitter and YouTube accounts and used them to promote a crypto scam, The country’s Ministry of Defense has reported.

According to The Verge, the attackers have advertised a distribution of NFTs on the British Army’s Twitter account. The link included in the description of the post led to a fraudulent site.

The hackers have also gained access to the British Army’s YouTube channel. The attackers have changed its name to Ark Invest, removed all previous videos and released several “live streams” with Elon Musk and Jack Dorsey that were actually old recordings with the entrepreneurs. During the video, viewers are encouraged to invest in fraudulent crypto-related projects with the help of additional text.

The British military has already regained access to its Twitter and YouTube accounts and has launched an investigation into the matter.

YouTube viewers lost $1.6 million in February in cryptocurrencies in fake streams in three days.
