Brett Harrison, former CEO of FTX.US, the US division of bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX, has accused the parent company’s founder, Sam Bankman-Fried, of “gaslighting and manipulating” during their interactions during the development of the US unit.

According to him, the conflict that arose between them over the issue of the US division’s reliance on the parent company also led to Bankman-Fried’s hostility and, as a result, the ouster of the former FTX.US CEO.
The controversy arose in Harrison’s sixth month in the position, when he started to advocate independence for the division’s executive, legal and development teams, something with which Bankman-Fried disagreed.

Harrison and other key employees of the subsidiary, experienced professionals from financial firms, law firms and regulated exchanges, faced “tremendous pressure,” their professional expertise “rendered useless and irrelevant.”
