The Difficulty of Bitcoin Mining Hits a New High

The difficulty of mining Bitcoin has hit a new high at around 35.61 T as a result of the latest recalculation.This is an increase of 13.55% and is the largest rise since May 2021.

The average hashrate over approximately two weeks since the previous indicator correction was 254.8 EH/s, the interval between blocks was less than 9 minutes instead of the 10 minutes expected by the protocol.

According to Glassnode analysts, the network hashrate (smoothed by the 7-day moving average) is close to the all-time high of 257.9 EH/s recorded last October 6.

Among mining pools, Foundry USA (29.34%) retains the lead in terms of hashrate share, followed by AntPool (20.67%) and F2Pool (13.78%).

Poolin, which admitted to having liquidity problems in early September, has fallen to eighth position from 2.36%.
